Minoan Civilization

3000 BC – 1100 BC
CultureEurope

A Bronze Age palatial culture centered on Crete that dominated Aegean trade and art before its mysterious collapse around 1100 BCE.

Declined and was progressively supplanted by Mycenaean Greek culture from around 1450 BCE, when most Minoan palaces and settlements were destroyed or abandoned; the last distinctly Minoan communities on Crete disappeared by approximately 1100 BCE as the wider Late Bronze Age collapse swept the Aegean.
