Eastern Numidian Berber kingdom of Masinissa, Rome's ally who unified Numidia.
The Massylii kingdom under Masinissa unified with the Masaesyli to form the Kingdom of Numidia after 203 BC; the distinct tribal polity of the Massylii thereby ceased, absorbed into Masinissa's pan-Numidian state which he ruled until his death in 148 BC.
Broad survey covering the Numidian Berber kingdoms of North Africa.
Covers Masinissa and the Massylii alliance with Rome during the Second Punic War; brings record to 3 sources — though note this is a military biography, not a history of the Massylii per se
Primary source — Sallust's Jugurthine War (Bellum Jugurthinum) directly describes Numidian tribal confederations including Masaesyli background and the Jugurthine succession disputes
