Mandi State

Hill kingdom astride the Beas, ruled by the Sen dynasty that had split from Suket; Ajbar Sen founded the present town of Mandi in 1527, and the state survived Sikh suzerainty to tender its allegiance to the British in 1846.

Transferred from Sikh to British suzerainty by sanad of 24 October 1846; acceded to the Indian Union in 1948 and merged with Suket to form Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
