Majapahit

1293 – 1527
EmpireAsia

The last great Hindu-Buddhist empire of the Malay archipelago, whose claimed suzerainty over maritime Southeast Asia made it the cultural and political touchstone of Indonesian national identity.

Extinguished in 1527 when the Sultanate of Demak conquered Daha (Kediri), the last Hindu Majapahit redoubt in eastern Java, after decades of civil war and decline.
