KingdomSouth America

One of the largest Aymara señoríos on the western shore of Lake Titicaca, formed after Tiwanaku's collapse; a wealthy pastoral-agricultural kingdom whose earlier rulers may have resided at Cutimbo before Chucuito became its principal town.

Conquered by the Inca Empire in the mid-15th century and reorganized as an Inca province governed from Chucuito; the Lupaca population and identity persisted through Inca and Spanish colonial rule.
