Oscan-speaking Italic tribe of Lucania (southern Italy) who pushed the indigenous Oenotrians into the mountains and frequently allied against Rome, including with Pyrrhus and Hannibal.

Allied with Rome from 298 BCE but repeatedly rebelled; gradually integrated into the Roman state through the 3rd-1st centuries BCE. Modern inhabitants of Basilicata are still called 'Lucani'.
