Lavo Kingdom (Lopburi)

700 – 1388
KingdomAsia

Mon-founded, later Khmer-influenced kingdom centered on Lopburi in the Chao Phraya river basin; a major regional political and Buddhist/Hindu cultural center that came under Khmer Empire suzerainty during the Angkorian period (approximately 11th-13th centuries) while retaining its own line of rulers.

Merged with the neighboring kingdom of Suphannaphum in the mid-14th century to form the Ayutthaya Kingdom, traditionally dated to 1351; some accounts have Lavo persisting as a subordinate principality within Ayutthaya into the 1380s.
