First of the Five Dynasties, founded by the warlord Zhu Wen after he forced the last Tang emperor to abdicate, ruling the fractured Central Plain amid constant warfare with the Ten Kingdoms and rival warlords.
Overthrown in 923 by Li Cunxu of the Shatuo-Turkic Jin regime, who proclaimed the Later Tang.
