One of the earliest kingdoms of the Malay Peninsula, known from Chinese and Indian records; came under Srivijayan influence by the 8th century and gradually faded as regional successor states (Kedah, Pattani) rose.
Superseded by the 15th century as its territory was absorbed into the emerging Islamic Pattani Kingdom and Kedah Sultanate, with Langkasuka disappearing from the historical record.
