One of the earliest and largest U-shaped ceremonial temple complexes on the Peruvian central coast, built in the Rímac Valley (modern Rímac district, Lima) at the start of the Initial Period. Associated with the Manchay culture / U-shaped-temple tradition that also produced the Garagay complex nearby, and thought to be broadly contemporary with, or slightly predating, the Casma-Sechín and Cupisnique horizons already in the dataset.
Used ceremonially for a few centuries before being abandoned; part of the wider decline of the central-coast U-shaped temple tradition by the end of the Initial Period.
