KhanateAsia

Yenisei-centered Turkic khaganate that briefly dominated the eastern steppe after destroying the Uyghur Khaganate in 840.

Steppe hegemony ended c.924 CE when Khitan (Liao) forces under Abaoji pushed the Kyrgyz back to the Yenisei; the khaganate persisted in its Siberian homeland until absorbed into the Mongol Empire in 1207 CE.
