Kingdom of Northumbria

The northernmost Anglo-Saxon kingdom, formed from the merger of Bernicia and Deira, which dominated northern England and parts of southern Scotland before Viking conquest.

Ended in 954 when the last Viking king Eric Bloodaxe was killed at the Battle of Stainmore, after which Northumbria was absorbed into the Kingdom of England under King Eadred.
