Kingdom of Noricum

300 BC – 16 BC
KingdomEurope

Celtic kingdom or federation in the Eastern Alps (most of modern Austria) that became a Roman client state before formal annexation.

Occupied by Rome in 16 BC after Noricum joined Pannonian raids on Histria; scholars dispute whether it was immediately annexed as a province or remained a client kingdom until Claudius (~46 CE); the Regnum Noricum ceased as an independent entity.
