Kingdom of Kinda

200 – 550
KingdomAsia

A central Arabian kingdom of the Kinda tribe ruled by the Hujrid dynasty, exercising loose authority over the Maʿadd tribal confederation; king al-Harith is the first Kindite ruler attested in Byzantine sources, and the Kinda served as Byzantine tribal federates alongside the Ghassanids from 502 CE.

Collapsed in internecine blood feuds among al-Harith's sons in the mid-6th century, prompting the Kinda's abandonment of central Arabia and relocation to Hadramawt; many Kindites later gained prominence in the early Caliphate.
