Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti

1762 – 1801
KingdomEurope

The united eastern-Georgian monarchy formed in 1762 when Heraclius II joined the crowns of Kartli and Kakheti; it won de facto independence after Nader Shah's death, allied with Russia by the 1783 Treaty of Georgievsk, and was annexed by the Russian Empire in 1801.

Annexed by the Russian Empire: Tsar Paul I's manifesto of December 1800 / Alexander I's confirmation of September 1801 abolished the Bagrationi kingdom and incorporated Kartli-Kakheti into Russia as the Georgia Governorate, ending Georgian statehood until 1918.
