1490 – 1762
KingdomEurope

One of the three breakaway kingdoms from the tripartite division of the Kingdom of Georgia, centered on the eastern province of Kakheti; a vassal of successive Iranian dynasties (and briefly the Ottomans), with intermittent independence especially after 1747.

Merged with the neighboring Kingdom of Kartli in 1762 under the Kakhetian branch of the Bagrationi dynasty, forming the Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti (which later sought Russian protection under the 1783 Treaty of Georgievsk).
