Kingdom of Iberia (Caucasian Iberia)

Ancient Georgian kingdom of Kartli — known to Greco-Roman sources as 'Iberia' — centred on eastern Georgia, one of the earliest Christian states.

Monarchy abolished in 580 CE by Sasanian king Hormizd IV after the death of King Bakur III; Iberia became a Persian province ruled by a marzpan.
