Classical-era Bengali kingdom that reached its zenith under Shashanka (r. 593-636), the first ruler to unify much of Bengal under a single named Bengali polity.

Disintegrated after Shashanka's death in 636, its territory partitioned between Harshavardhana's empire and Bhaskaravarman of Kamarupa.
