Habsburg crown land in eastern Europe created after the First Partition of Poland in 1772; encompassed modern western Ukraine and southeastern Poland.
Dissolved on 31 October 1918 with the collapse of Austria-Hungary at the end of World War I; the western portion passed to the restored Second Polish Republic, while the eastern portion was briefly claimed as the West Ukrainian People's Republic before also being incorporated into Poland by the Peace of Riga (1921).
