450 – 627
KingdomEurope

A Brythonic kingdom of the post-Roman 'Old North' in what is now West/South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire, one of the longer-surviving independent British polities in the east of the island before Anglo-Saxon conquest.

Conquered and absorbed by Edwin of Northumbria around 617-627, after which the region became part of Northumbria (later Yorkshire); the Elmet population persisted as a recognised local group for generations afterward.
