Anglo-Saxon kingdom in eastern England, home of the Sutton Hoo burial, which fell under Danelaw and was then absorbed into a unified England.

Conquered in 869–870 by the Great Heathen Army under Ivar the Boneless; King Edmund was killed on 20 November 869 and East Anglia ceased to be an independent kingdom.
