Anglian kingdom centred on the former Roman city of York (Eboracum), covering roughly modern East and North Yorkshire. Its first securely attested king, Ælle, ruled from around 560 to 588.

Absorbed into Northumbria alongside Bernicia in the early-to-mid 7th century; retained a subordinate sub-royal line for a time (e.g. Oswine, killed 651) before full integration under the Bernician dynasty.
