Kingdom of the Aurès

Independent Berber kingdom of the Aurès mountains resisting Vandals, Byzantines and the Arab conquest.

The Kingdom of the Aurès fell to the Umayyad Arab conquest in 703 CE when its last monarch Queen Dihya (al-Kahina) was killed in battle, ending Berber resistance in the Aurès; the entire region was under Umayyad control by 709 CE.
