331 BC – 428
KingdomAsia

Greater Armenia, ruled successively by the Orontid, Artaxiad, and Arsacid dynasties, was the dominant state of the South Caucasus and a major buffer between Rome and Parthia.

In 428 CE the Armenian nobility deposed the last Arsacid king; the Sasanian Empire installed a marzban (governor), ending independent statehood until the Bagratid revival in the 9th century.
