Kingdom of Albania (Angevin)

1272 – 1368
KingdomEurope

The Regnum Albaniae declared by Charles of Anjou in February 1272 on the Albanian coast he had taken from Byzantium, with local noble support — at first a strip from Durazzo south to Butrint, and a launchpad for his designs on Constantinople that died at the Siege of Berat (1280-81).

Reduced after 1281 to the country around Durazzo and held ever more nominally; the last Angevin stronghold fell to Karl Thopia in March 1368, ending the medieval kingdom.
