Kingdom of Huahine

A Polynesian kingdom on the Society Island of Huahine, ruled by the Teurura'i dynasty from the 18th century until French annexation. One of the group of interrelated Leeward Society Islands kingdoms (alongside Bora Bora and Raiatea) recognized as independent by the 1847 Jarnac Convention. Huahine held out against French control longer than Tahiti (annexed 1880) and Bora Bora (annexed 1888).

Annexed by France in 1895, ending the Teurura'i dynasty's rule.
