Sanhaja Berber dynasty (Banu Khurasan) that ruled a de facto independent principality centered on Tunis for a century, nominally under Zirid and then Hammadid suzerainty.
Conquered by the Almohad Caliphate in 1159, when the last Khurasanid ruler Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abd al-Aziz was ousted, ending Banu Khurasan's century of rule over Tunis.
Standard survey of medieval Maghreb political history covering Tunis's autonomous Banu Khurasan principality between the Zirid collapse and the Almohad conquest (broad context — no dedicated monograph on Banu Khurasan found on Open Library).
