The last of the three major Uzbek khanates, rising in the Fergana Valley in the 18th century before being annexed by the Russian Empire in 1876.

Annexed directly by the Russian Empire in 1876 CE following a rebellion; Russian forces crushed the uprising and Tsar Alexander II issued a decree abolishing the khanate and incorporating its territory into the Fergana Oblast of Russian Turkestan.
