The modern Kelantan sultanate was consolidated by Long Yunus, who was installed on the throne around 1764 after a protracted succession struggle backed by Terengganu. Long a Siamese tributary sending the golden bunga mas, Kelantan passed to British suzerainty under the 1909 Anglo-Siamese Treaty.

Non-terminal: Siamese tributary, then British protectorate from 1909, and since 1948/1957 a constituent monarchy of Malaysia.
