1748 – 1822
KhanateAsia

A Turkic-ruled khanate under nominal Iranian suzerainty founded by Panah Ali Khan of the Javanshir tribe around 1748, seated at the fortress of Shusha; it fell under Russian protection by the 1805 Treaty of Kurekchay and was abolished as a khanate in 1822.

Passed under Russian suzerainty by the Treaty of Kurekchay (1805); after Ebrahim Khan's death in 1806 and confirmation of the loss to Iran by the Treaty of Gulistan (1813), the Russian administration abolished the khanate and converted it into a province in 1822.
