Kangra State (Katoch dynasty)

1009 – 1828
KingdomAsia

Senior Rajput kingdom of the Punjab hills, ruled by the Katoch dynasty from the Kangra fort in the Beas basin; long a Mughal tributary, it revived spectacularly under Sansar Chand II (1775-1823) before losing the fort to Ranjit Singh in 1809 and being absorbed into the Lahore kingdom in 1828.

Annexed to the Sikh kingdom of Lahore in 1828 after Raja Anirudh Chand abandoned the state; the Katoch line continued only as the Kangra-Lambagraon jagir, and the territory passed to British India in 1846.
