Kamboja Kingdom

A Mahajanapada on the northwestern frontier of ancient India, inhabited by the Kamboja people (of southeastern Iranian origin), mentioned in Vedic and epic literature as a horse-breeding frontier kingdom.

The Kamboja kingdom (northwestern South Asia / modern Afghanistan-Pakistan border region) was conquered by the Achaemenid Persian Empire under Darius I c. 518 BCE and incorporated into the same satrapy as Gandhara, ceasing to exist as an independent polity.
