Kalabhra dynasty

250 – 575
DynastyAsia

Rulers of all or part of the Tamil region during the so-called 'Kalabhra interregnum,' a poorly-documented era between the Sangam-age Tamil kingdoms and the Pallava/Pandya resurgence; likely patrons of Jainism and Buddhism, their origins and even their exact dates remain scholarly disputes.

Defeated by the combined forces of the Pallavas, Pandyas, and Chalukyas; the dynasty had certainly ended by the last quarter of the 6th century, when Pallava Simhavishnu and Pandya Kadungon re-established Tamil dynastic rule.
