Mandinka kingdom in Guinea-Bissau, a western successor to the Mali Empire.
The Kaabu federation was destroyed in 1867 when the Imamate of Futa Jallon, allied with Fula forces under Alfa Molo, besieged and stormed the capital Kansala; the last Mansaba, Janke Waali Sanneh, ordered the city's gunpowder stores ignited, killing himself and the defenders, ending Kaabu's independence, after which Alfa Molo established the Kingdom of Fuladu across the former territory.
