Germanic tribe north of the Danube (roughly modern northern Bavaria), probably originating as a subgroup of the Semnones. First securely attested in 259-260 when it raided Italy and was defeated returning near Augsburg by Marcus Simplicinius Genialis — recorded on the Augsburg Victory Altar (discovered 1992), one of the best-dated events of the Crisis of the Third Century.

Invaded Italy again in 270/271 (defeated by Aurelian per Dexippus); increasingly absorbed into the larger Alemanni confederation from the later 3rd century onward, last mentioned in records around the early-to-mid 5th century.
