A North Sea Germanic people traditionally associated with the Jutland Peninsula, named by Bede as one of the three peoples (with the Angles and Saxons) who migrated to Britain in the 5th century, settling Kent and the Isle of Wight.
Largely migrated to southern Britain in the later 5th century; scholarly consensus on their exact continental origin and any intermediate stop on the Frisian coast remains unsettled.
