Judicate of Arborea

1000 – 1420
Sovereign stateEurope

The longest-lived of the four indigenous judicates — with Cagliari, Gallura and Torres — that ruled Sardinia after Byzantine authority lapsed; governed from Oristano from 1070, and under Marianus IV and the judge-regent Eleanor it took the whole island but Cagliari and Alghero in its wars with the Crown of Aragon.

Broken at the Battle of Sanluri on 30 June 1409; the last judicial rights were sold to Alfonso V of Aragon for 100,000 gold florins on 14 August 1420, completing the Aragonese Kingdom of Sardinia.
