Type site Konar Sandal (near modern Jiroft); documented heyday c. 2500-2200 BC.
Declined by the end of the 3rd millennium BC as regional trade networks shifted; the scope and coherence of the 'civilization' claim (based partly on looted, un-provenanced artifacts recovered from villagers) has been disputed by some archaeologists, notably Oscar Muscarella of the Met.
