Japanese occupation of the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong from the surrender of Christmas Day 1941, run as a captured territory under a Japanese governor.

The Royal Navy re-entered Victoria Harbour on 30 August 1945; the Japanese garrison formally surrendered on 16 September 1945 and British rule resumed.
