1818 – 1948
PrincipalityAsia

Muslim nawabi in Malwa founded by Abdul Ghafur Muhammad Khan, a Pathan of the Tajik Khel from Swat by descent who served the freebooter Amir Khan as his agent at the Holkar court. After the Maratha defeat at Mahidpur in December 1817, the twelfth article of the Treaty of Mandasor confirmed Ghafur Khan in Jaora, Sanjit, Malhargarh, Tal and Barauda, with tribute from Piploda. It was a 13-gun-salute state of the Malwa Agency, living largely on opium, cotton and millet.

Acceded to India and merged into Madhya Bharat in 1948; the dependency of Piploda had been separated in 1924 and Panth-Piploda became a province of British India in 1942.
