Kingdom of Amber and Jaipur (Kachwaha)

Kachwaha Rajput kingdom of the Dhundhar region of eastern Rajputana, seated at Amber and, from 1727, at the planned city of Jaipur built by Sawai Jai Singh II; a leading Mughal ally that produced generals such as Man Singh I.

Entered British protection in 1818 and acceded to the Dominion of India in 1949 (merged into Rajasthan).
