Itelmen (Kamchadal)

1000 – 1742
Native nationAsia

The salmon-fishing people of the Kamchatka River valley — the densest population in the Far East before 1697, and the first to be broken by the Russian advance into the Pacific.

Not an ending: four risings ending in 1741-2 were crushed and smallpox and intermarriage folded most Itelmen into the Russophone 'Kamchadal' population, but some 3,200 people identified as Itelmen in 2010 and the language is being revived.
