The zone of southeastern France occupied by the Kingdom of Italy in parallel to the German occupation: a small Alpine strip (including Menton) from the June 1940 armistice, expanded in November 1942 to most of France east of the Rhône plus Corsica.
Ended with the Armistice of Cassibile (8 September 1943): Italian forces withdrew and the Wehrmacht occupied the zone; Corsica was liberated by Free French forces by 4 October 1943.
