Albania under Italian occupation following the April 1939 invasion, nominally a kingdom in personal union with the Italian crown (Victor Emmanuel III as King of Albania), governed as an Italian protectorate/client state and used as a staging ground for Italy's invasion of Greece in 1940.
Italy's September 1943 armistice with the Allies triggered German occupation of Albania, replacing Italian control until the communist-led Liberation in November 1944.
