A series of Hellenistic Greek kingdoms in the northwest Indian subcontinent, founded when Demetrius I of Bactria invaded India c. 200 BCE; Menander I (r. from Sagala) is its best-known king and a patron of Buddhism.
Fragmented into rival Greek kinglets and was progressively absorbed by Indo-Scythian (Saka) invaders through the 1st century BCE, the last remnant falling c. 10 CE.
