Idrisid Emirate of Asir

Emirate in the Asir Tihama founded by Muhammad ibn Ali al-Idrisi, who proclaimed himself Imam in 1908; a short-lived early-20th-century state on the Red Sea coast between the Hejaz and Yemen, capital at Sabya.

Expanded after World War I (reaching Hodeidah) but was gradually absorbed as a Saudi protectorate and formally annexed by Saudi Arabia under the Treaty of Ta'if in 1934.
