Iberians (Levantine/coastal culture)

800 BC – 19 BC
CultureEurope

Non-Indo-European culture-group of the eastern and southern Iberian coast (distinct from the Indo-European Celtiberians of the interior, already in the dataset), organized in numerous small city-states/oppida with strong Phoenician and Greek trade contacts, known for the Lady of Elche sculpture.

Progressively Romanized following the Second Punic War and the long Roman conquest of Hispania, culturally absorbed by the time Augustus completed the conquest of Iberia (19 BCE).
