Emirate of Hakkari

1500 – 1845
EmirateAsia

A Kurdish emirate in the high mountains west of Lake Urmia on the Ottoman-Iranian border, ruling a mixed Kurdish and Assyrian Christian population; absorbed by the Ottomans in 1845 amid the Bedirhan campaigns.

Ended in 1845 when internal disputes brought it briefly under the neighbouring Botan emirate of Bedir Khan Beg; both were then absorbed into direct Ottoman rule after the Tanzimat reforms.
