Expelled from Mesopotamia c. 2050 BCE when Sumerian king Utu-hengal of Uruk defeated the last Gutian ruler Tirigan in battle; Tirigan fled but was captured and submitted (and likely executed), ending a century of Gutian hegemony over Sumer; the region was subsequently unified under the Third Dynasty of Ur.
