Gurjara-Pratihara Dynasty

730 – 1036
EmpireAsia

Founded by Nagabhata I c. 730 CE, the Pratiharas built a north Indian empire stretching from the Himalayas to the Narmada and repelled early Arab incursions from Sindh; reached its height under Mihira Bhoja (836-885).

Weakened by the Tripartite Struggle and Rashtrakuta sacks of Kannauj; finally shattered when Mahmud of Ghazni plundered Kannauj in 1018, with the last Pratihara ruler of Kannauj, Jasapala, dying in 1036.
